Karina Maria's Family History

Welcome to Karina Maria’s site. I created this site to document the family history of my daughter. There is an introductory page with notes and links of the people and places that make up this family history. A family tree (genealogy) is also available with nearly 400 blood relatives and others who are part of the family by marriage. For full access you will need to register your name and e-mail on the site, otherwise you will be able to browse the family tree with limited access. This is done to protect the privacy of living persons.

This site is a work in progress as I update names, pictures, places, stories and other details of the family history. If you have some details to contribute, please send it in. The work that is compiled here has been on-going since the mid 1990’s.

Naming Format

The naming format in Spanish countries is different from that in Anglo countries. All of the ancestors listed in this research have the Spanish format for their names ( First Name, Middle Name, Fathers Last Name, Mothers Last Name). To remain consistent on the family tree that format has been maintained for the recent and current generation even if they live in the United States.
Cuban Provinces
The provinces in Cuba have changed over the years. For purposes of continuity I used the original 6 provinces as they were established at the inception of the Republic in 1902. From west to east Pinar del Rio, La Habana, Matanzas, Las Villas, Camaguey and Oriente.
Family Tree Numbering
The family tree genealogy program automatically assigns a number to each person (Ex I001) and also assigns a number to each family (Ex F001). These numbers are used throughout the site whenever there is an image, note, map reference or any other identifier. This is helpful in identifying the person as many names in the family repeat over the generations.
